ABOUT

Hand painted, one of a kind pieces. Made in New York.

Own Pace pieces are all hand painted, and so one of a kind. As a textile designer turned digital designer I wanted to create a process that wasn’t about speed and couldn’t be replicated on the computer. The goal is to create beautiful products that are considered and thoughtful throughout the entire creation process. This in turn will pass this love and care on to the wearer - you and your loved ones!

The process involves painting the untreated silk and silk cotton purchased in the garment district in NYC as a blank piece of fabric. Once the fabric is colored I take it to our friends at Software Studios for steaming and setting. From there I pre-launder the fabric so that I know that the color is set and won’t wash out. I have makers in both the garment district and Brooklyn that are happy to work with me on small batch orders.

Once I receive the made up garments back I will stitch in the little stone beads that give the garments individual detail and extra positive vibes. The painting process results in color that is subtle in its gradient and almost luminescent. The fabrics are natural fibers that feel luscious to wear.

I truly believe that the care and intimacy that goes into the making process will be felt and appreciated by the wearer. All this to say that I hope that when you wear the garments, this might offer you a moment to slow down and take things at your own pace.
